Testing if the spice seeds from your kitchen are vital, is a good way to save money and try new plants.
They'll not germinate always, but it's worth trying.
 A quick way to test your seeds is putting them on a wet paper towel, and wait.

This fenugreek sprouted very soon, and nigella (or black cumin) and poppy sprouted too in a few days. I used them on homebaked bread, (like this Spiced Millet Bread) and I can't wait to see the plants grow.
 Pick the seeds and sow them...
 ...then just wait for the plants!
