My chilies from previous years

Growing chili peppers
May 19, 2011

All the chilies sown this year are still very small and slow to recover from transplanting, while my old chili plants are filling me with pride.

Numex Suave OrangeNumex Suave Orange is my favourite: it was sowed in 2008, so this is its fourth year. It's a Chinense like Habanero, and produces aromatic, mild pods.

Hot JimHot Jim is an hybrid sowed in 2008, an incredibly strong plant, I harvest its pods from May to February.

Aussie BlackAussie Black is an ornamental chili, I will be very happy to see its black and red pods for the third year.

Pimento PiquilloThis is a Pimento Piquillo plant sowed last year, it produces big pods that can be harvested still unripe, and served fried or roasted.

Habanero PinkI'm trying to create a bonsai chili from this one year old Habanero Pink, so I cutted the main root and many stems. It's an aggressive treatment so I'm glad it's still alive.
