Last winter harvests
Rooftop gardening
March 21, 2013
On my rooftop many plants sown last autumn are giving the last harvest.
These are the last carrots: red carrots. They are red-pink on the outside, with a bright white core.
Last autumn I also sowed a lot of aromatic herbs, and many of them are bolting. Soon I will harvest the seeds from many of them: dill, coriander, broad leaf mustard, they can be used from the next sowings, but also as spices.
Alexanders on the other hand grew slowly, and now is ready for the first harvest.
It has a fresh taste reminiscent of celery, plus a special spicy component. This bunch has enriched a savory pie with eggs and potatoes.
