Recipe: Thai basil pesto

Sauces, dressings and dips with herbs
September 24, 2009

Thai basilThai basil has a wilder aroma than regular basil, it tastes of lemon... and it's so productive that often goes out of control.
Every year I grow only few thai basil plants: they resist to the bad weather better than others, and I know that I will harvest thai basil all autumn long.

I didn't think that thai basil will be good for pesto, because of its strong aroma. Anyway, I tried it with Nira Garlic... and I really love the result.

Thai basil pesto

Thai basil pesto

80g basil, thai basil and nira garlic (about 1/2 cup each)
60g almonds
60g grated parmesan
30ml olive oil
1 clove garlic
1 cherry chili pepper (mild)

Mince all ingredients in a food processor until smooth.

In the picture you see the thai basil pesto served on herbs mini gnocchi.
